Survivor: Corporate America
I pulled 2 years of internal job data across 9 major employers. The data is WILD.
Survivor: Corporate America
Outwit. Outplay. Outlast. Or else.
Nine companies. One brutal job market.
Who’s getting voted off the island next?
The Tribal Council Is Filling Up
I will dive into each of these below- but aren’t these numbers WILD?
2008 called. It wants its recession back.
But guess what?
This time: no severance. No reference. No warning.
Corporate America has gone feral
Layoffs dropped via cold Teams notices with zero heads-up.
“Performance Plans” slapped on top performers months after promotions.
No WARN letters. No exit interviews. Just a hard “badge back by 5 pm.”
Oh, and the receipts:
Microsoft axed 9,100 jobs… its third layoff round of 2025… while pumping $80B into AI.
Intel is cutting 20% of global workforce including engineering, leadership, foundry teams torched.
45% of U.S. managers say their company is “likely” to cut headcount in 2025. We are only halfway the the year. YIKES.
The real horror?
In 2022, the top 30 H‑1B sponsors fired 85,000 Americans while hiring 34,000 foreign workers … a 2.5:1 replacement rate? WOW.
And don’t forget… AI is now a weapon at your own job. Execs like Ford’s Farley say it could wipe out half of all white-collar jobs. HALF ya’ll… Ok even if it isn’t that much - it is still not going to be a small number and we are already seeing the effects.
So what’s actually happening?
In a nutshell…
Your headcount cost vs. optics
Your replaceability, not your ROI
Your Slack presence, your ambition, your silence… all weighed by algorithms
You’re trapped in a a game of Corporate Survivor… and you didn’t even know you’d signed up.
The Real Reason You’re Not Getting Hired in 2025
So what is this really? This isn’t about org charts. It’s about structure. Companies are blowing up their internal architecture… and ruthlessly, without warning.
Whole layers of leadership are gone.
Engineering functions erased.
Sales channels cut off at the knees.
And I’ve got the receipts: month-by-month, role-by-role, across nine major employers.
If you work in tech, want into tech, compete with tech, or hold any of these stocks? You’re going to want to see this.
Let’s talk about what companies are headed to the island…. and who I think are going to survive.
