Y’all, this Airbus / China thing didn’t come out of nowhere.

Everyone’s buzzing about China reportedly eyeing up to 500 Airbus jets... but let’s be clear: 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗮 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗻𝗲𝘄.

China hasn’t placed a major Boeing order since 2021. What, you thought they were just going to not buy planes?

Nope. 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗯𝘂𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀.

➡️ They have had a final assembly line in Tianjin since 2008

➡️ There was a 160-aircraft deal signed in 2023

➡️ Oh yeah... and the second line being built right now

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝘀, 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗳𝘀... 𝗴𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻... Airbus kept showing up and a deal was getting hammered out. And when you’re moving billions of dollars in aircraft, those matter more than headlines.

Oh and don’t miss what’s bubbling under all of this:

Howmet Aerospace, a major engine parts supplier for both Boeing and Airbus, just hit 174.66 this week.

But can I just scratch the surface for a second to point something out:

▪️ CEO sold $125M in stock

▪️ EVP of HR sold $4.75M... no 10b5-1 in place

▪️ Hiring is slowing

▪️ And that SPS plant fire in Feb? Still affecting fastener supply

Everyone’s looking at Airbus vs. Boeing.

But the real stress test might come from inside the supply chain. 👈
